Morning people, hope you had as much sun as we did in Devon yesterday. Looks like it’s going to be lovely today too. About time! Shame I am indoors all weekend, though for a good cause – selling Devon crafts 🙂
it was really busy at Dartmoor Chapel Crafts, Belstone, yesterday though my crochet is not doing too well. Not sure why as am getting great feedback. We maybe opening through the Autumn and am sure I will fair much better with my scarves, mitts etc – though don’t want to drive this weather away just yet!
I have made some jewellery using glass beads from a Devon supplier with linen or cotton thread. I am really pleased with them and will get some up for sale on Etsy asap. I am also planning on making baskets from plastic bags, not something I’ve done before but it will be fun having a go. So many ideas, so little time.
I have almost finished a pretty pink rabbit which will be homed with a clients granddaughter, just got to make the tail (which I had nearly forgotten to do!). Will pop a pic up when done. Another work in progress is a summer shawl made from gorgeous alpaca and silk yarn. I started a pattern ages ago then realised it would take far too long to finish in a reasonable time so am now using a much simpler pattern….it’s still taking ages!!
Well, better get myself ready for todays visitors. Have a great Sunday x
Just finished some pretty flower bunting, a pattern found in an issue of Simply Crochet, They are available for sale in my Etsy shop right now!
heres a link….https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/224018251/crochet-flower-bunting
I have also made some mobile phone cases, this is my first, not on Etsy yet but hopefully soon.
Craft fairs are coming up very soon so am crocheting every day!
I am just about to book my hols in the Lake District, so am rather excited about that. Its a beautiful part of the country and would move there immediately, though I don’t really see the opportunity arising any time soon. Well, its lovely here in Devon too so am pretty happy with that.
I have a couple of requests from friends that I shall be getting on with shortly. a crochet and button necklace and a shawl (my friends are patient people thankfully, am a bit behind). I will be holding the fort at Sew Vintage tomorrow so if its quiet can get on with hooking:) Lets hope tomorrow is sunnier than today, haven’t seen it at all!
Had a lovely time at the show on Saturday and managed to be fairly restrained with my purchases! As well as some very reasonably priced yarn , I also bought a felt picture kit. I’ve always wanted to have a go and now have my chance. Will show you if it looks good enough!
I have made a few more items this week. In a rush to get them posted, the pics aren’t as good as I’d like them but it will have to do, given the time I have at the mo.
I have made these and shown them before, but am quite please with these cotton pads, which are an reusable alternative to cotton wool pads. Suitable for makeup removal or cleansing/toning. These are a great seller so I better get some more made!
The next item is a basket made from recycled tshirt material, similar to the Hoooked Zpagetti (yes spelt right!). I bought 3 balls of this from a market in Barcelona at a very cheap price. If I had known how expensive it is here, I would have ditched my flamenco outfit and made some room for more in my suitcase!!!
Third and final item for today is a heart brooch made of felt and cotton fabric. I really need to crack on and get some more done for Valentines Day. Its just round the corner, best start dropping hints now!! If your other half is anything like mine, they will forget all about it!!
Well, thats all folks, its time for my tea – or dinner if you are not from the North!! x
Well, having had a lot to do today Mr. M. and I decided to walk the dog by Okehampton Castle – one of our fave places – then we went for coffee and of course how can I go into town without a woolly purchase?? Already geared up for Autumn and all its glorious colours. This is a lovely chunky wool mix for scarves and hats and mittens and…….
Also managed to finish a brightly coloured facecloth out of the gorgeous Sugar’n’Cream cotton, add some colour to your bathroom 🙂
More to follow, well back to Mr. M’s bday x
I have just subscribed to Simply Crochet magazine again and, with many of these mags, you get a free gift , which I am such a sucker for! So, this gift has arrived – a pack of 7 balls of the gorgeous Sugar ‘n’ Cream Lily Cotton – and am already loving it.
I am now in the process of making a facecloth (or flannel as I call it) and its a really easy yarn to work with. You can buy it from here http://www.woolwarehouse.co.uk/yarn?brand_name=8236
There is a great choice of colours and is really soft. Well, can’t sit here all day, need to get on with making…x
There are so many things you can create out of crochet that are actually useful as well as being pretty 🙂
I found this idea in a magazine but is also easy to find online. Instead of using throw away cotton wool pads or facewipes to remove makeup or to cleanse, try these crochet cotton pads.
Use once or twice then pop them in the washing machine. These are 100% cotton so will take a number of washes. Got to be better than a bin full of cotton wool! Even my husband thinks its a good idea! They would make a lovely gift too.
Well, better make some more for the Belstone Bazaar, near Okehampton, Devon on Sunday, maybe see you there? 🙂
