Getting Busy With The Hook

Not had a lot of free time recently, as you can tell by my absence! Work has been full on, which is great. Am also seeing my personal trainer twice a week and am weirdly enjoying it.

Never been one for exercise (which is why I need a trainer, to keep me going!!), so suprised myself when I realised its sort of fun. It does help that Jamie is brilliant –  patient and calm with (thankfully) a sense of humour! I would highly recommend having a go. He works at a gym which is part of a physiotherapy centre. If you are in Devon and in the Tavistock area heres where I go – Tavistock Physio Clinic

I have had some time to get on with crochet. After booking a space at the National Trust Castle Drogo Xmas fair in November, I thought I’d better crack on with some stock. I made some fingerless gloves last year and they sold well so am making more!

I have also made a lovely chunky cowl using pure wool with a big button fastening…

It is laste Sunday afternoon and having been out in the pouring rain with the dog, I think its time to relax….with a hook and some yarn 😉

Busy Weekend

Managed to pack quite a lot into the weekend. On Saturday we drove up to Clovelly on the north Devon coast. We went to see the lovely artist, Lydia, who owns Candyland Studio Gallery. She creates textiles and wallpaper using her own designs, as well as making prints, cards and badges like this one…

On Sunday, I was selling my wares at the Christmas Fair, Bude Castle. A big thank you to all those lovely people who bought my crochet! The weather was lovely and sunny but really cold so my mitts and hats flew out the door!! It was such a successful day and I had lots of positive comments so really boosted my confidence in my work. Will definitely be there for the next one.

It’s a 45 min drive from Bude back to my house, which gave me just an hour to unload the car, grab some dinner and then it was back in the car to get to Exeter to see The Damned!  You may not know them but they were a punk band from the 70s who then went all goth in the 80’s (I was a bit young for them but my big brother was a fan so it rubbed off!). Well, they were great, even though now in their 60s!

Luckily, I have a quiet week so can catch up on some sleep, am shattered!

Another Xmas Fair

I will be selling my crochet at the Belstone Bazaar on Sunday, 27th November. It’s a small but well organised event in the village hall and this year there is a record number of tables booked so will definitely be worth a visit. Refreshments will also be available. Belstone is a lovely Dartmoor village in a great location for exploring the moor. Come and buy some Xmas gifts, have lunch in the pub then walk it off along the river!

Hope to see you there 🙂

Xmas Fair

Just a quickie tp let you know I will be selling my wares at Bude Castle on the 4th December. There are stalls in the castle and in a large marquee in the grounds (hopefuly heated as thats where I will be!). Bude is one of my favourite seaside towns with lovely beaches and cafes so will make a great day out. Come and say hello 🙂

Come To The Fair

Hi everyone, sorry I haven’t posted for a while….

If you happen to be in Tavistock, Devon on Sunday, you are in for a crafty treat!

Bedford Square Summer flyer

I shall be in the Town Hall, so come and say hello 🙂

Its very exciting though am a bit nervous as its the biggest fair I will have been to. I just hope I have enough stock! Have sold quite a few items this last month. Well, have still got a few days to get hooking…..

As ever, I need to be getting on with stuff so have a lovely day and maybe see you on Sunday 🙂

Summer Sun

Been lucky with the weather recently and looks like another warm one today. Time for a spot of gardening. Husband is off on the moor for one of his walks with his Dad so I have the day to myself 🙂

We took ourselves out for a change yesterday. It was my late brothers birthday and I prefer to keep busy at this time, rather than be at home with sad thoughts. If you look at my pics, you’ll see him, looks nothing like me, he was a handsome fella, and he knew it! So did the ladies 😉

So, we went out to Coombe Trenchard near Lewdown to the Home and Garden Fair and it turned out to be well worth the visit. It’s open today too. My lovely friend Sophie of The Dartmoor Soap Co was there, not seen her for ages so great to catch up. Her business has gone crazy since she appeared on TV, rightly so! You can buy her soaps online at The Dartmoor Soap Co

There were lots of other stalls including garden ornaments, vintage home wares,  various crafts, food and  plants, which were too tempting for me and so I did buy a couple, knowing full well that my garden is already stuffed but I just couldn’t help myself!

Everything was outside in the pretty gardens of the house. Apparently it is only on every 2 years, which would give me plenty of time to get some stock together. ….

I am still working on crochet, just haven’t finished anything new yet! I have 3 cushions and a mandala on the go, am sure to have one completed soon, watch this space 😉

Have a lovely Sunday x

The Great British Summer….

Hmmmm, not impressed so far. Very not impressed with last nights forcast!! ‘Heavy rain acrross the South West all day’, so we cancel work….yup, you guessed it, didnt rain til after 3 and only a little. So now a day behind, good job we have such lovely, understanding clients. We usually wait til the morning to decide whether or not to cancel, but the Met Office and the BBC were so convincing! The best weather forcast is looking out of the window.

Anyway, enough of this moaning. Popped into Kooky Nook to deliver a pair of seat pads (£15 each if you’re interested). Have to say, the shop is looking fab, well done Kate! All locally made crafts. As well as cards, crochet, wooden storage and soap (along with more crafts),there is a lady who makes lampshades, you can provide the material and she will make it at a very reasonable price. The shop is right next to the museum in Okehampton.

Am a bit lost as to what to crochet next. I have not had much time to do any recently, only seem to get a couple of hours in the evening. I only have one big fair which isn’t til August but I really need to get going with it, want to take the oppurtunity to really show off!

I will be glad when this month is over, it has been so busy at work and a bit stressful. May is  a very difficult time of year for me and my family anyway so looking forward to a bit of time out soon.

Well, lets hope it doesn’t rain tomorrow, can’t afford to cancel again!
