Sunshine At Last :)

Hey everyone, sorry I haven’t been writing for a while, lost my blogging mojo for a bit. I think the rubbish weather of late has had a negative affect on my creativity! I haven’t been crocheting either!

Finally, the grey skies have broken up and the sun is OUT! Time to dig out the summer clothes. I think I need to do some shopping, am slowly losing weight and last years wardrobe is getting baggy. Still got a way to go on the weight front but I will get to my target, got help from my lovely personal trainer πŸ™‚

Hmm personal trainer, never thought I would have one, not cheap and I have never ever liked sport/keep fit stuff, but this is the best thing I have ever done! I dont spend much money on myself, dont wear makeup, rarely get my hair cut, dont buy shoes/clothes often so feel I can afford having one. I really do enjoy it, a huge suprise to me! It helps that my trainer is ace and has a wicked sense of humour, he’s my best mate (that I have to pay for!). Even when I feel down before getting to the gym, I always feel happy after a session, exercise is a great medicine.

Crafting is also a good medicine, though I haven’t done much crocheting recently. Gotten a bit lost with knowing what to make. My Etsy shop has been a big disappointment, no sales at all, so have lost hope there. I thought my booties would fly out but I was wrong. I probably havent done enough to get seen but its very hard to be enthusiastic when you feel nobody is interested 😦

Anyway, back to the sunshine….we are off out soon to meet old pals and their kids for coffee, cake and a walk with our dog, very much looking forward to it. The rest of the weekend will be spent working in the garden (shhh, don’t tell husband, want it to be a suprise tehehe).

I popped round to see my pensioner pal yesterday. We have quite lot in common even though there is a 30 year age gap – never judge a person because of their age. She was a very successful handmade teddy bear seller in the 70s/80s, sold to all the big department stores. She continued to make bears to sell at craft fairs after she quit the business and also created knitting patterns for doll and teddy clothes to sell. The bears are no longer made but she still knits, mainly for her great grandchildren. What a talented lady! Every time I see her I get inspired to make something new, so am gonna have a go at baby clothes, well, one cardigan, just to see if I can do it.

Here’s a pic of one of my friends bears

Aw, so cute! Right, time to go out,

Have a great weekend! πŸ™‚

August….or Autumn??

The British weather always keeps us on our toes…or under our brollies! We are still waiting for a spell of hot weather, while the rest of Europe is at the other extreme of it being way too hot. I am finding our weather is at its best thru September, even early October. This is great for us as we tend to go on holiday then (having no kids, we prefer to avoid the school hols!).

This year we are off to Northumberland, first time and v much looking forward to it. It has a long coast of golden beaches (the dog will be in heaven!) as well as some fab castles, there is even one in the village we will be staying in. Will be taking lots of pics πŸ™‚

Had some great news yesterday – I sold a shawl to a friend in NZ (think I mentioned it), was supposed to take 5-7 days. After 10 I started to worry, after 20 was deciding to refund my pal his money and try to forget the hours spent making it, then after 30 days it arrived!! Hurray πŸ™‚ His wife loves her bday gift, that makes me very happy!

Not too happy with Royal Mail though! I spoke to them via twitter and though polite etc they were pretty much saying ‘its not our problem’ when I was trying to locate where the package was – even though I paid them more to track it!! I went on live chat and was quite annoyed with the unhelpfulness of whoever I dealt with, asked why am I paying for a tracked post service when you dont know where it is?? She pretty much ended the chat by shrugging her shoulders and saying ‘so what? Nothing to do with me’!! NZ Post, on the other hand were brilliant, giving me more info and keeping me up to date even before it had arrived in their country. Royal Mail need to take a leaf out of their book!

Sorry, rant over πŸ˜‰

I am now having to think further ahead to (sorry for mentioning this) Christmas. Craft fairs book up quick and I have an opportunity to have a space at the Xmas fair at Castle Drogo (National Trust). Fairs are so hit and miss, a lot of work for sometimes little reward. I was at Bude Castle (bit of a theme here!) last year and did very well. If they are on different weekends, I could do both πŸ™‚ though if thats the case I really need to get making!!

Have a great weekend, hope the sun shines!! πŸ™‚

The Great British Summer….

Hmmmm, not impressed so far. Very not impressed with last nights forcast!! ‘Heavy rain acrross the South West all day’, so we cancel work….yup, you guessed it, didnt rain til after 3 and only a little. So now a day behind, good job we have such lovely, understanding clients. We usually wait til the morning to decide whether or not to cancel, but the Met Office and the BBC were so convincing! The best weather forcast is looking out of the window.

Anyway, enough of this moaning. Popped into Kooky Nook to deliver a pair of seat pads (Β£15 each if you’re interested). Have to say, the shop is looking fab, well done Kate! All locally made crafts. As well as cards, crochet, wooden storage and soap (along with more crafts),there is a lady who makes lampshades, you can provide the material and she will make it at a very reasonable price. The shop is right next to the museum in Okehampton.

Am a bit lost as to what to crochet next. I have not had much time to do any recently, only seem to get a couple of hours in the evening. I only have one big fair which isn’t til August but I really need to get going with it, want to take the oppurtunity to really show off!

I will be glad when this month is over, it has been so busy at work and a bit stressful. May isΒ  a very difficult time of year for me and my family anyway so looking forward to a bit of time out soon.

Well, lets hope it doesn’t rain tomorrow, can’t afford to cancel again!
